<Personal Update from Damian>

You and I both know how important your family can be (whomever they are in your life), and the other night I confided in you (as my trusted friend) about my grandfather, who went unconscious Friday and was rushed to Intensive Care.

I hadn’t mentioned that his Priest had also rushed to the hospital to give him the last rites, that’s how very serious it was at that point. In fact he was entirely blue, and we really did think that was it.

Here’s what caused it- they accidentally gave him too much cardiac imaging dye which started to flood his lungs. My grandmother was in the room and actually had to run out to get the nurses, then 7 nurses and staff members ran in and wheeled him extremely fast to the other side of the hospital.

His heart was racing at an extreme rate- caused by a reaction to this dye as we found out later- as well as he couldn’t breathe. He had to be shocked with a defribrillator as well as given oxygen…

Did you know when you have circumstances which totally deflate you and make you want to simply curl up and cry- that there is still hope?

Well that’s how I felt on Friday- totally vulnerable, helpless, and extremely sad. I wrote the mail below to reach out and you know what – you really helped me. Why? Well, as I was lying there on the couch with my computer – very sad after already crying and with a major headache- I just kept hitting refresh. Why? So many prayers and comments were coming in!

I just kept reading them. Then the emails started coming- in all 250+ messages so far (nearly 1,000 people opened my first mail and read it, and I’m sure many more were praying too and wishing us well!)…

I believe in the power of prayer and agreement from trusted friends. I know I have a responsibility to help people (as we ALL do), and what I thought at that moment is that- if he does go, the way to honor him is to get serious about helping as many people as possible through the relationship we have- encouragement, guidance, and understanding.

That doesn’t always mean just being soft- it means telling you what works, what you need to do, and standing by you on your journey until you get there- all of us growing together and helping each other…

Well do you know what? He made it through that night. Saturday morning, he was still unconscious , and they decided to try and take him off the ventilator to see if he could breathe. Do you know what? He did! Then everyone was just sitting around in the room and around 1215PM on Saturday, we heard this voice like “what happened?”

We were like – “you’re in the hospital – you’re doing good you’re gonna be ok” – and then we just all started talking. He was really weak having not eaten for 2+ days and just having an IV. But, he actually started joking around a bit in the next hour, then said he was hungry.

Today – they moved him to a normal room!  He still has some procedures on Wed and Thurs, so keep up the prayers and thoughts. But we have him back and that’s something to treasure.

SO…

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU… FOR BRIGHTENING ME UP, FOR SHOWING YOUR CARING, AND FOR YOUR THOUGHTS and PRAYERS, AND TRUSTING ME ENOUGH TO TELL ME ALL OF YOUR OWN STORIES – IT’S BROUGHT US ALL CLOSER TOGETHER -

Do you know what? Just when it looks the darkest – your breakthrough can be literally in your next footstep. So, BELIEVE, and TAKE ACTIONS even if you’re afraid- and remember I’m on your side! :)

Thank you!

Damian :)) :D

PS: Do you know how surprised he’s going to be when I print out and send him all of your dear messages below?!? :D :D

FROM FRIDAY 10/16/09

This is just a short message to please pray or send your good wishes to me tonight. Tonight my grandfather went into the Intensive Care Unit with heart and lung problems, and is not concious right now.

He’s in Louisiana tonight, and I may have to jump on the first flight which is tomm evening.

I love him so much and I really hope he makes it. When I was a little boy my parents were divorced, and not there too much. I felt pretty lonely at times.

That’s where my grandparents came in, I was the only grandchild, so it was like my grandparents were my parents or even my best friends – through some pretty tough times. I was with them all the time – they cooked for me, took me to buy clothes, took me to school and church.

Always so kind and wanting the best for me. Lol my grandmother would even give me huge plates of food and say “you didn’t eat anything!” (Being Italian that was important to eat a lot!)

We’re still very close, my grandmother Irene, grandfather Philip and me. My grandfather used to play the Saxophone and I remember when I was little they would go dancing to 50’s music and just loved to have a good time and laugh and joke.

No one is perfect but they are some of the kindest and most giving people you will ever meet. So, please tonight as you go to bed, say a prayer if you can for my grandfather Philip.

Thank You,
Damian

Damian, I will pray for your grandfather, may the angles of God go with you as you fly to see him and may you find the miracle that you need for him when you arrive to be by his side.

If you believe in points of contact take a bottle of anointing oil and smear some on his forehead and THANK GOD for his healing!!! There is no power in the oil but it will stir up YOUR faith that you already have in God to see His healing hand at work.

God bless and all shall be well!

But we all have to go sometime, and she absolutely did not want to linger unnecessarily, or be on lie support machines too long so she got her wish :)

My love and best wishes to you Damian also to Irene.

Its a sad time when we have to face our mortality and the chance of losing someone that we love and have spent so much of our lives with.

It’s those times that we need to hold on to, with a smile and love in our hearts.

People and our relationships are really all that matter in the world. Oh, there are things that we want, time spent doing those things that we need to do, just to get by, day to day, but it’s our relationships and the people that we love that truly show us what our lives are all about.

Having the love that you obviously have for Phillip and Irene is the one thing that you will remember and Phillip will be remembering.

Love to the THREE of you.

I DID SAY A PRAYER FOR YOU AND YOUR GRANDFATHER, my attempt to make you feel better at this time, is to pray and put your Grandfather in God’s hands.

Without me going into all the reasons why I believe this is it is written with God all things turn out to the good.

It may not always be our wishes, but trust that with God in control you win!

Dear Damian. I’m praying for your beloved Grand Dad. Please remember that we all live in this world is just in temporary time to passed away, as I am a Moslem … the Whole Creatures (also a Human being) have been created by GOD will be pulled-back by HIM, and GOD is the only ONE can do this whenever and whereever HE wants, however HE can make whatever HE wants … become black or white, live or dead and something else. All we have to do is keep in faith to HIM and always trying to be a Prime Human being in HIS mind along our lives.

    Oh Damian ,

You are so soft hearted just like me. I had a similar upbringing only my father died when I was only 1 year old. My mother who is 90 years old now (bless her soul) lives with me.

I vowed that no matter what happens in my life I would always take care of her because after Dad passed away she was only 25 y/o with 7 children and never remarried only because she wanted to take care of us.

I look at her now and all the sacrifices she made for us, I love her more each day. I want to be able to sleep at night knowing that I did my very best to take care of her.

We can change our friends everyday of our lives, but our parents are here to stay. They see life through thick and thin to make sure that their children never go without.

I will pray for your beautiful grandfather because I know how much you love him for what he has given up for you. Its funny because just today I was talking to someone about our elderly parents. You know they take care of us when we’re little and when they grow old, we’re supposed to take care of them. Thats how life is meant to be. I know you love him very much and my heart goes out to you. I’m sure he knows how much you cry for him because as their children, we have to be there for them. He knows how much you mean to him.

Remember you’re not alone, I’ll be thinking of you and Phillip and will say a prayer for him. You have to be strong for your grandma. You are all she will ever have in her life.

    Love,

    Damian,

You are blessed with a family of friends, not just around you, but those who you have influenced online.

We are all praying for you and your Grandfather. It is always difficult in the midst of life’s trials to stand firm even if the outcome may be hard to face.

Dealing with the health issues your grandfather is, I will pray for the medical team treating him as well. I lost my father Christmas Eve 2004 after triple bypass and valve replacement surgery. He’d been recovering quickly the first few days, but nearly 10 days after surgery he went to be with the Lord.

Know that everything is in the Lord’s hands. But prayer is powerful, so I am praying for you and your family.

    Best regards,

    Hi Damain
In the bible it says ‘where two or three are gathered and are in agreement’……….., so far I have counted 52 people here praying for your grandfather and your family so you have a lot of powerful prayer behind you all. Remember there is NOTHING more powerful than prayer especially when others are in agreement with your prayers.
I am not saying there will be a miracle (and I have seen those) just that your grandfather is in God’s hands and we just ask that His will be done. I ask that God will wrap his loving arms around you all at this time and that He gives you comfort and strength for whatever in in store for your family.

I’m sure that at the base of all religions there is a universal truth to be tolerant of others ideals and do unto others as you would have done unto you..I am Wiccan and believe in celebrating life, Mother Earth and praying “for the good of all concerned”. We channel positive energy in prayer, just like church goers do that pray together at mass.. all those lovely, caring thoughts coming together, building in strength and energy, directed at those that are ill or lonely.. just imagine the wonderful healing energy now going out to you and your grandfather, your grandmother and family! Don’t forget to take care of YOU too and I hope you have a safe trip to see him again. Luv, light and laughter from Katinka in OZ ;-) !

I can only sympathize and yes, pray for your granddad to recover from his current medical situation. My family and I have been through a lot also from lost jobs and a couple of recent storms in our country, the Philippines, that left us essentially penniless. But this is not about us, this is about you and your beloved grandfather. My sincere prayers for his immediate recovery and let me just take this opportunity to thank you for your business offers. I can see the potentials to earn from it. Hopefully soon I can signup, but right now I have my hands tied in this pressing situation with resources just enough to put food on the table. I wish you all the luck.

    Dear Damian;
I will pray for your Grandfather – and you – tonight.
I lost my own father to Heart Failure when he was 87 years old, and although he had a full and long (?) life there was still much he looked forward to and I miss him very much. Since then I have found and I use The Healing Codes which are truly an amazing break-through for medical science. I can’t help regretting that I did not find this healing modality in time to perhaps give my father some extra years for those enthusiasms of his to be realised.
I cannot comment on your Grandfather’s situation, but there are numerous stories of improbable recoveries from life-threatening deseases – ALS, Clinical Depression even cancer.
    http://www.thehealingcodes.com/cmd.php?af=1077651
Learning about these modern “miracles” may lead to a better understanding of how The Healing Codes can help our bodies in fighting invasions and threats.
Warmest wishes to you and condolences on your devastating loss.

Damian,so glad to see your grandfather is better, amazing what prayer can do!!!It’s at these times in life where we need to reach out to those around us and ask for help. That should be what everyone’s purpose is in life, instead of trying to outdo someone, or have something better, is work together, so we can ALL live without going hungry and sleep in a warm bed at night, and know that when the night is the darkest, there are people out there to open their arms and hearts, and stand by you until the darkness begins to turn to grey, and slowly the sun again begins to shine. Money is nice, and believe me I wish I had more of it, but at the end of the day, what good is it if you have no friends in time of need, or no one to share it with!!

I hope he continues to improve and my prayers are with him and your family also, and THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO TO HELP OTHERS, AND KEEP US POSTED ON HOW HE IS DOING!!

    Dear Damien,

We are indeed happy that we all prayed with you and you are now happy! Probably I was in such a serious condition in 2004 when I had a triple by-pass surgery in Delhi and our faith in God helped me pull through. So, I am not amazed at your grandfather’s turnaround.
    The defribillator has certainly helped.

Your anxiety to help your friends through crises may now include, in my humble opinion, Damien (exclusive of your chosen choice), helping American Public opinion to reduce the cost of such treatments to those who cannot somehow get them now without radical healthcare reforms. I am sure this is the need of the hour.

This will surely please your grandfather immensely!

    With loving Regards,

    Yours Sincerely,

    Sankaranarayanan Ramachandran.

Yes, now matter how much we believe family is important and to have grandparents around is so much a blessing. I have never had that experience of having grandparents. I have only known my parents and uncles, my grandparents died when my parents where teenagers. So cherish every moment you have with them

Well, weather these things work or not,LOTS of people did,and your grandfather is recovering…Those are facts!
Faith and positive thoughts have helped many people through desperate times….Despair, hopelessness and negativety have done the opposite.Luckily,as Frankl wrote in his diaries,we always have the power to choose!

Doesn’t the internet give us such a wonderful, fast access for such times of need and celebration. May you and your grandfather and grandmother share many more years and happy times together.

Damian, Our Lord Jesus is our hope in all circumstances.

I hadn’t read my e-mail until this morning and was saden by the report about your grandfather. My prayers or with you and your family through this time of testing.

I would like to share a few words of encouragement. If you have a bible handy you can read this, I Pet. 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Healing is the intent of our Lord as you can see from the above scripture. The healing is for the whole man, body and spirit.

One thing we should be aware of is that there are two powers at work in the earth today. The first is the work of the Lord and the other is the work of the devil.

Jesus has only good for us and our enemy (the devil) has other plans for our lives. The bible tells us the plan and purposes of the devil. Lok at John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Damian, our pray for you and your family is according to the bible, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. III John 1:2

    Hi Damian,

I’m glad to hear your Grandfather has made a recovery in the face of such adversity, but remember, all things are possible through God. So we will keep on praying and trusting that the Lord has everything under control. There are many comforting passages of scripture the Lord has written for us and one of my favourites, which may offer some solice for you is this:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” – Philippians 4:6-7

It has helped me on more occasions than I care to remember, and it will help you too Damian.

    God Bless,

    Andy

Several times over the weekend I thought of you all, and wondered how you were all getting on… It is good that people you haven’t meet, had such a positive impact on you and your situation, and that people’s words brought you comfort… There is a saying here in England ” As one door closes another one opens” and yes you are right positive thought can out weigh the less positive things in life… My thoughts will still be with you and your family and I hope for continued well being in your situation… You are in my prayers, take care xx

    Hi Damian,

I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes, I’m so happy for You and Yours.

I too believe in the power of prayer and maybe with so many people wishing Phillip the best, the collective worked. I like to believe that it did..

It is at times like these that shock us back into realising just how much some people mean to us. Oh, I know that we always care about them, it’s just these times make us realise that maybe there might be more ways to show our love, with time, energy, consideration, a thoughtful letter sent, a phone call out of the blue, or just a kind word in their ear saying… ‘I truly love you’

You have made my day and I have a heart felt smile on my face…

    I’m happy for you…

I am going to walk up to my parents right this minute and give them both a huge hug and kiss and how much they mean to me… out of the blue…knowing them, they will think I’m up to something… lol … but it will put a smile on their face

I’m not surprised at yourt Grandfather’s breakthrough. We must, as christians understand, and rely on the power of prayer. When we pray, pray as though it is done already. My entire church will keep your whole family in prayer. I leave in a few minutes to go and conduct bible study, and we will lift you all up in prayer. The question is not how your blessing will come, but when, and if prayers go up blessings will come down. That’s a fact that is unchanging. I need all of you to pray for me also. I will go to surgery next month for prostate cancer, and even though I know it will be fine, I still need all of the prayers I can get!!
